Bandbox is a subscription service that combines the vinyl listening experience with an informative 16-page zine about the artist you select. They were founded in 2019 by Alex Rice and are headquartered in Minneapolis, MN. Their mission is to "curate a one-of-a-kind listening experience that takes one through an artist's discography in a unique and immersive way."
What’s in a Bandbox? Your choice of an album (over 50 options to choose from) and an issue of their 16-page zine. If you're comfortable allowing them to take the wheel, you can reach out to them on Discogs and Bandbox will never send you a selection that's already in your collection.
A subscription allows you to save 20% off an album monthly. Shipping is free in the US! A 1-year paid subscription runs around $20 per month. A 6-month subscription is $22 per month. A 3-month subscription will run $25 per month.
Super Subscriber Rewards: If you renew your subscription for consecutive months after it expires, you'll receive an album of your choice for a 3-month subscription. Two more free albums for a 6-months subscription. A 1-year subscription rewards you with a Bandbox test pressing.
With reasonable monthly pricing, free shipping, and a decent selection of artists (Blur, Death Cab For Cutie, Nada Surf, Ride, Elliott Smith, etc.) to choose from, I'm currently leaning towards Bandbox to be the subscription service I subscribe to in 2023.
